Derek, whose background was in sales and administration; had purchased baskets from elsewhere & was not satisfied with their quality nor the fact they were predominantly ‘gourmet'. Della, who had spent most of her life in the nursery & gift business, was given the task of rebuilding the baskets with everyday ‘goodies'.

The result… a huge success with all Derek's customers commenting on the quality and the type of ‘everyday' products used. Further discussions with other business acquaintances verified Della & Derek's suspicion that there was a need for a business supplying gift baskets with ‘everyday' products to ‘everyday' people.

‘Pamper Hampers' was born in February, 1999; just in time for Valentines Day with the concept of ‘gift baskets by design'. Not the same basket that someone else was also receiving but your own ‘special basket', designed around what you wished the other person to receive.

A family business working from Samford with Della as the creative member of the team and Derek handling the distribution, they call upon their daughters Kylie and Leith plus their nieces to assist when things get hectic.

2002 saw the business grow dramatically as the ground work of the previous years paid dividends. This growth saw the need for a website which resulted in a name change to ‘Pamper People' in September 2003 due to a name similarity of a business down south. ‘Pamper People' was agreed upon due to the fact that Della & Derek's greatest desire is to do just that… pamper people with individually designed baskets!!! So, it is business as usual.
